The ALTO ZMX 52 mixer board is a 5 Input device for connecting multiple devices / inputs into your computer of choice which could be either a Mac or windows desktop/ laptop.

Why did you purchase this?

I purchased this mixer board because I wanted a way to record different types of 1/4 inch inputs like my normal 6 string guitar and my 4 string bass into GarageBand for Mac OS whilst been able to use a microphone which is connected via a 1/4 inch to 3.5mm adapter ( more about how I connect it in my next paragraph), I also want to get into live streaming via a free open source program for Mac and windows called open broadcast software or obs for short and I was having some issues with the program expeserly in the audio department due to not having any kind of mixer now that I have it it’s making my audio bit better than the built in input on my Mac mini late 2014.

Some of the things I would like to achieve with it is

1 Live stream video

2 Pre recorded game play from my Xbox 360

3 My own online radio station / podcast

4 Voice over like gameplay commentary

How do you have the mixer set up?

Its very easy to set the mixer up and get running but your configuration could be a little different or similar to mine. In Line 1 I have a sing star 3.5mm mic connected to a 1/4 inch adapter, Line 2/3 I have a 1/4 inch cable for my bass and 6 string guitar, Line 4/5 is empty. This mixer is connected to my Mac via RCA red and white cables with the audio in coming from my Mac headphone port and audio out coming from my Mac mic port, did I mention that I have a Bluetooth adapter that allows me to use Bluetooth devices like my cell / mobile or my iPad with this mixer and if I ever decide to do a podcast or online radio station then I can use the Skype app and bring in live phone calls , I am using some cheep Sony v150 headphones for audio monitor with a 3.5mm splitter so any one else who wants to record with me can listen to what I am.

What are the computer settings?

The computer settings are pretty straight forward because your using the built in connections unless your using a behringer uca 222 usb to rca sound card, all you need to do in your audio software of choice is set the input to default and do same for output

Where did this mixer come from?

I bought this mixer from a uk electronic shop called maplins for 49.99 British pounds but you can get this from your local amazon website (links coming soon).

Overall verdict of this mixer?

For what your paying for this mixer your getting a easy to use audio interface that you can learn with in a cuple of hrs. I think this is a greate mixer for the price I paid at the time of writing this review / blog post

Some audio samples can be found on the live page of this website, please note that no audio post production will be done to the samples they are just recorded and saved.

Thanks for taking your time to read this post and please leave a comment below telling me what type of mixer your using.
